Who would have thought, Suspense, Intrigue and Controversy and we are not talking Master Chef NZ but our own Bushmere Arms Series.

Obviously after last week most teams have completed some study of game plans, tactics and strategy and while no one played the joker we had two trifecta’s being collected (Singin the Blues and the Brown Cows). The Brown Cows romped away with the win and it was reported from a reliable source (Mr Paperplus) that they were onto their second Woman’s Weekly before the bulk of the field arrived and collected maximum points. (pity they didn’t play the joker and really stretch the points ).

With the team tactics being critical for a good result it is evident teams are working together and looking after each other rather than the normal every man for himself strategy. Within each group there are individuals who are really giving it a go in grades higher than they normally ride. These standout individuals are Mark van Wyk (Orange Roughies), Callum Gordon (Purple Rain). As these guys are unable to change groups they can only get better for the experience.

Again this week we had a protest, This protest was based around the use of tribars. Previously the committee communicated that tribars are not to be used based on the extract below. While we don’t like to see anyone disqualified the rule had been made and a protest lodged. This is unfortunate for Peter and while it was impressive to see a rider go past at speeds normally reserved for motorbikes we are unable to allocate points in this instance.

As for the overall results the Singin the Blues continue to build on the points made in round one and lead by a healthy 626 points from the Brown Cows. However there are still jokers to be played which will be critical to the final result.

Extract from previous emails

“For those that wish to know the reason why or its justification.

Tri Bars do modify the handling characteristics of your bike, for some bikes its quite significant whilst for other designs it can be minimal.

However when a rider is in an Aero Position, there is limited steerage or braking ability as well as limited ability to observe the race around you.

This impacts not only the rider using them, but places at risk others as well.

We ask that these be removed before the race”
