Race 1 in the Bushmere Arms series around Lavenham Road, under the team’s format has certainly added a new dimension to the club racing calendar

There were lots of tactics and strategies being applied, with the only people certain to have understood the event being the teaching fraternity. Anyway the race left plenty of topics to be chewed over in the bar afterwards with a few tales to be told. Certainly racing and thinking as a team is going to make this series interesting to say the least. Some teams played their joker early to optimise points on the basis the “rock stars” were away and numbers light, will this have been a good move will unfold as the series evolves! Playing the Trifecta worked well for the Brown Cow’s, while the Orange Roughies are off to the TAB to work out what a Trifecta is and how it works. While the conditions proved to be an early test with the increasing winds it was the Singin the Blues who took advantage of the series early. The group worked well to collect the bulk of the other groups by the bridge and applied the pace down Bell Road to split the others with only Tom Johnston being able to foot it with the leaders. They also tactical split the placing of other groups and thwarted potential Trifecta points, so all in all a well ridden race. Now that everyone is aware of how it all works we are in for some interesting group racing.
