Details: DAY ONE - THE TWIN COAST DISCOVERY TRAIL Starting at Whangarei, heading south on State Highway 1 to Oakleigh and across to Dargaville, the Kumara growing capital of New Zealand via Paparoa and Ruawai. TOTAL DISTANCE 100km DAY TWO - THE KAURI BUSH TRAIL Leaving Dargaville, the tour will head for the Waipoua Forest, where the beauty and splendor of the giant Kauri trees and native bush can be enjoyed. The winding road will be a challenge, but the final view over the Hokianga Harbour with the vast sand dunes will be worth the effort. TOTAL DISTANCE 84km DAY THREE - THE COAST TO COAST FLYER Leaving Opononi and the Hokianga Harbour behind, the tour heads from the West to the East Coast. Ride across New Zealand through the rural Northland countryside to the Bay of Islands where the tour stops on the Village Green in Paihia. TOTAL DISTANCE 84km DAY FOUR - THE COASTAL CHALLENGE Take the ferry to Russell compliments of Fullers before setting off down the quiet road to view Northland’s pohutukawa lined Eastern beaches. This view will bring the riders back onto SH 1 at Whakapara only 20km from the finish line in Whangarei. TOTAL DISTANCE 90km |
